Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join a logistics organization in Torrance, California in a contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This position is suited for a well-rounded HR specialist who can guide strategic people initiatives while staying closely involved in daily human resources operations. The role will work across recruiting, employee support, compliance, payroll coordination, and workforce programs, partnering with leaders and employees to maintain an effective and people-focused workplace.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the end-to-end hiring process, including opening requisitions, reviewing applicants, coordinating interviews, preparing offers, and supporting pre-employment steps.
  • Lead onboarding activities for new employees and provide HR support during key employment lifecycle changes such as transfers, status updates, and departures.
  • Partner with external benefits providers and prepare related reports while helping employees understand available programs and enrollment processes.
  • Administer leave programs, including protected leave, disability-related absences, workers' compensation matters, and other approved time away from work.
  • Coordinate semi-monthly payroll activities with the third-party payroll provider and help resolve employee and manager questions related to pay and deductions.
  • Maintain personnel records, HR documentation, and employee files in accordance with company standards and applicable employment regulations.
  • Support policy administration, compliance reviews, audits, required postings, and multi-state employment practices to reduce organizational risk.
  • Track and manage required employee training through online learning platforms and help ensure timely completion of assigned courses.
  • Assist with employee relations concerns, performance management discussions, and broader HR initiatives focused on engagement, process improvement, and organizational development.
