ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is an educational nonprofit organization with a statewide scope. CYC addresses barriers to learning by providing individualized support throughout pivotal stages of students' education journeys. We provide a continuum of services from kindergarten through high school to help students find success through tutoring, case management, and outreach to help in-school youth remain in school or out-of-school youth return to school. We envision an equitable education system where each student has access to resources, they need to maximize their own learning and growth. POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Director serves as a human resources generalist, overseeing CYC's human resources functions and ensuring effective and compliant approaches to employee management. This role provides leadership, oversight, and ensures best practices in HR compliance, employment laws, employee benefits, payroll, employee relations, safety management, and hiring processes. This position focuses on people, culture, and systems to foster a values-driven environment that supports staff and AmeriCorps members to thrive. This position is full-time, Denver-based, with a salary range of $75,000-$87,500 with benefits. Essential Functions New Employee and AmeriCorps Hiring Complete background checks and payroll documentation for new employees. Complete national service criminal history checks and payroll documentation for new AmeriCorps members. Enter new employees and AmeriCorps members in the appropriate systems; Paychex, Egrants. Implement effective onboarding programs to help new hires integrate smoothly into the organization. Policy and Procedures Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise personnel policies, ensuring agency compliance with state, city, county, federal laws. Maintain and ensure staff and AmeriCorps member compliance with personnel policies and procedures. Stay abreast of upcoming laws and requirements that apply to organization and the AmeriCorps programs. Employee Relations and Support Provide support and guidance to managers and employees on HRrelated issues, including employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions. Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement and retention. Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns regarding policies and procedures. Coordinate staff trainings and professional development sessions, including scheduling, space reservations, calendar invitations, and logistical support. Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) update process and timeline for AmeriCorps member and staff training, ensuring content is maintained and updated in a timely manner. Payroll and Benefits Management Ensure personnel files and operating protocols are maintained consistent with internal and external regulations. Process changes in Paychex to include new hires, terminations and garnishments for employees and AmeriCorps members. Oversee semimonthly payroll administration. Act as main point of contact for employee and AmeriCorps member benefits. Oversee AmeriCorps member benefit enrollment. Oversee the open enrollment process for benefits annually, completing necessary census. Act as compliance officer for worker's compensation, to include training and submission of claims. Complete exit procedures with exiting employees to include Cobra benefits and exit interviews. Other Duties Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings. Speak on behalf of the organization when appropriate. Attend relevant community and school meetings and events. Run errands as needed using personal transportation. Perform other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned. Support CYC fundraising and storytelling efforts when applicable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to analyze organizational behavior as well as human behavioral characteristics and motivations. Strong analytical abilities and communication skills. Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration. Knowledge of employment law and federal, state and local compliance. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Work independently and remain organized in multiple settings. Experience with and dedication to engage students, AmeriCorps members, and staff across social identities and life experiences. Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel with an emphasis on the ability to create spreadsheets and tables in order to capture data. Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners. Contribute to a positive morale. Support strategic thinking and direction of the organization. A passionate and committed belief that students deserve access to quality education resources and support. Appreciation of clear and appropriate boundaries with youth, AmeriCorps members, and staff. Dependable transportation and being insurable as a driver on the auto liability policy of Colorado Youth for a Change. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of eight years of experience working as a Human Resources Generalist.
PHR/SPHR
required. Nonprofit experience preferred. Experience managing federal grant compliance preferred. Experience with AmeriCorps programming preferred.
