Founding Human Resources Manager - Build HR From the Ground Up at a New Compounding Pharmacy Metro Medicine RX is a newly licensed Florida 503A sterile and non-sterile compounding pharmacy serving prescribers and practices across Florida. We are growing fast and hiring our first Human Resources Manager - a founding team member who will build the HR function from zero and support our affiliated healthcare and business entities as the group scales. This is a build role, not a maintain role. There is no HR department yet.
You will create it:
the handbook, the hiring process, the onboarding, the compliance calendar, the payroll and benefits setup, and the culture. You will report directly to the CEO and have real authority to design how we hire, develop, and retain people. What You Will Do Own full-cycle recruiting for pharmacy, clinical, sales, and operations roles: job postings, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offers, and background checks Build and run onboarding, including I-9/E-Verify, licensure and certification verification, and role-specific compliance training (HIPAA, OSHA, USP-related competencies in partnership with the Pharmacist-in-Charge) Create the employee handbook, job descriptions, and core HR policies, and keep them current with Florida and federal law Set up and administer payroll, benefits enrollment, PTO tracking, and workers' compensation with our providers Maintain a licensure and credential tracking system to ensure every technician, pharmacist, and clinical staff member stays current with Florida Board requirements Build performance review, compensation, and career-path frameworks as the team grows Handle employee relations, investigations, corrective action, and terminations with professionalism and documentation Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and Florida employment law; maintain personnel files and required postings Select and implement an HRIS/payroll platform (Gusto, Rippling, ADP, Paychex, or similar) and produce headcount, turnover, and cost reporting for leadership Support HR needs across affiliated entities under common ownership as they add staff Drive employer branding, culture initiatives, and retention programs What You Bring 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years as an HR Manager or senior HR generalist Experience building HR processes at a startup, new location, or small business - you know what to set up first and what can wait Working knowledge of Florida employment law and federal requirements (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, E-Verify) Healthcare, pharmacy, or clinical HR experience strongly preferred, including licensure/credential tracking and HIPAA Hands-on payroll and benefits administration experience Proficiency with small-business HRIS/payroll platforms and strong Excel skills SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred Discreet, organized, and comfortable operating without a playbook Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field, or equivalent experience Why Join as a Founding Employee Report directly to the CEO - your decisions ship Build the HR function across a growing multi-entity healthcare group Defined growth path to Director of People as headcount scales Competitive salary plus performance bonus tied to hiring and retention milestones Paid time off, professional development, and HR certification fees covered Health benefits offered upon eligibility
