Negotiable Salary (DOE) + Performance Incentives The Role Seal Masters of Hawaiʻi is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our people strategy and continue building a high-performing, values-driven organization. This is not a traditional HR management role focused solely on compliance and administration. We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing people, strengthening leaders, building scalable systems, and creating an employee experience that reflects the same level of excellence we strive to deliver to our clients. The Director of HR serves as a strategic partner to the executive team while leading all aspects of Human Resources, Safety, Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, and Employee Engagement. Key Responsibilities Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
  • Lead company recruiting strategy and hiring efforts.
  • Develop hiring processes that consistently attract A-Players.
  • Oversee onboarding to ensure every employee receives an exceptional first experience.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational growth. Employee Experience & Leadership Development
  • Champion company culture and employee engagement.
  • Coach managers on leadership, accountability, communication, and employee development.
  • Lead performance review processes and career development initiatives.
  • Support conflict resolution, employee relations, and difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy. HR Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee HR systems, policies, benefits administration, payroll support, compliance, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Continuously improve HR processes and systems. Safety & Risk Management
  • Partner with the Safety Officer to strengthen the company's safety culture.
  • Oversee safety compliance, certifications, workers' compensation, and incident reporting.
  • Utilize safety metrics to drive continuous improvement. Organizational Strategy
  • Partner with the executive team on organizational design, succession planning, compensation strategy, and quarterly priorities.
  • Develop scalable HR systems that support company growth.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, benefits administration, and HR best practices.
  • Experience developing HR systems and scalable processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach leaders and influence organizational culture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
  • Construction industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude preferred. Success Looks Like
