A Safe Place is searching for our next HR Manager! We are a mission-driven organization, and this role will be the main point of contact for all HR issues supporting a staff of around 80 employees. We are looking for an experienced HR professional with a deep knowledge of HR laws, policies and procedures who will help guide the organization.

A Safe Place is the only organization in Lake County, Illinois, dedicated exclusively to supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Through our comprehensive programs, we provide survivors with the resources they need to rebuild their lives, prevent future abuse through targeted abuser intervention, and educate the community on how we can all work together to end these pervasive issues. Our mission is to foster a community-wide response to domestic violence and human trafficking by raising awareness of their causes and teaching effective ways to address them. Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the HR Manager is a department of one and the main point of contact for employees and managers. This role will be an advisor to the senior leadership team to ensure HR practices are aligned with employment law and organizations policies. The HR Manager will support a variety of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, performance management, and benefits administration. They will work to promote a positive and productive workplace culture.

$70,000-$87,000 annually

Holidays Responsibilities:
Coach and advise senior leadership on HR strategy and best practices. Services as the subject matter expert on HR related topics. Review HR policies and procedures and ensure they are compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws . Review HR procedures, and recommend and implement process improvements Recruit for open positions including posting roles and interviewing and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new hires . Conduct investigations as needed to resolve workplace conflict and promote a positive workplace culture. Lead the performance review process, coach manager on performance improvement strategies, and ensure all performance issues are documented. Benchmark compensation data and lead compensation reviews and salary adjustments. Administer employee benefit programs and answer employee benefit questions. Coordinate and support training programs, professional development, and leadership development initiatives Manage the LMS (Learning Management System) and assist with training assignments for staff. Maintain HRIS to ensure data accuracy Manage the employee separation process and conduct employee exit interviews.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred 5+ years' experience in Human Resources Previous HR experience at a nonprofit a plus HR Certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of HR principles and employment laws Excellent communication and interpersonal skills High level of confidentiality and professionalism Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite Experience in a fast-paced or multi-site environment A Safe Place is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
