Overview Team Manager - Human Resources & Team Development The Team Manager - Human Resources & Team Development supports the Practice in the daily leadership of the team, with primary responsibility for human resources, employee development, onboarding, performance management, team communication, and workplace culture. The Team Manager works under the direction of the Practice Manager and will not have overall independent responsibility for hospital operations or financial performance. www.urgentpetvet.com 1. Human Resources - Primary Responsibility Coordinate recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding. Maintain accurate employee files and HR documentation. Coordinate 30 and 90-day check-ins and ongoing employee evaluations. Assist managers and shift leads with performance coaching and documentation. Address employee concerns and help resolve workplace conflicts. Escalate significant employee issues to the Practice Manager and/or outside HR professionals. Ensure compliance with employment policies, labor laws, required postings, workers' compensation procedures, and required documentation. Communicate with the practice's HR service/provider as needed. Help develop and maintain employee policies, procedures, and the employee handbook. Monitor employee training requirements and maintain training records. 2. Team Development & Culture Work closely with the Practice Manager and shift leads to develop and retain a strong team. Conduct regular employee check-ins with staff members. Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate training. Support recognition, engagement, and employee-retention initiatives. Promote professional communication, accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture. Help identify leadership-development opportunities for team members. 3. Onboarding & Training Own the administrative portion of the onboarding process. Ensure new employees complete required paperwork, training, safety requirements, and orientation. Coordinate onboarding schedules with department/shift leads. Follow up with new employees throughout their introductory 90-day period. 4. Employee Scheduling & Communication Help monitor attendance, punctuality, PTO, and staffing concerns. Organize staff meetings and assist with internal communications. Attend leadership, staff, and shift-lead meetings. 5. Hospital Operations - Support Role Help enforce hospital policies and procedures. Monitor cleanliness, organization, safety, and employee compliance. Assist with OSHA and workplace safety requirements. Help coordinate inventory counts and other administrative projects. Step in to support the team when operational needs arise. 6. Client & Team Support Assist with client concerns and service recovery when appropriate. Support the staff in maintaining a professional and positive client experience. Help mediate situations involving team members and clients. 7. Administrative Support Assist with administrative projects assigned by the Practice Manager. Maintain HR and employee-related records. Assist with workers' compensation documentation and injury reporting. Help coordinate uniforms/logo wear and employee supplies. Assist with other hospital projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred. HR training, certification, or demonstrated HR experience strongly preferred. 2+ years of experience in human resources, employee relations, management, or team leadership preferred. Veterinary or medical practice experience is a plus but not required. Strong understanding of employee relations, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and workplace policies. Excellent communication, organization, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and HR/digital systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Leadership and public-speaking experience are preferred. Must be available to work a reasonable number of shifts during hospital operating hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
