Job Description

Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for guiding and managing the day-to-day Human Resources services, policies, and programs for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge (HFHGBR). Partners with leaders to create an environment where employees can do their best work in support of HFHGBR's mission, staff, and Board of Directors. Works with leaders to ensure that HFHGBR follows all federal and state labor laws and to develop and maintain effective Human Resources programs and processes. Provides professional and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Human Resources Functions:
Ensures that HFHGBR is abiding by all federal and state mandated labor laws. Plans and performs all aspects of recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new staff, with assistance from hiring managers. Tasks include, but are not limited to, posting open positions, responding to candidates, vetting candidates with the use of reference checks, background checks and pre-employment drug screening, coordinating start dates, confirming US work eligibility, granting access to technology, and ensuring completion of required documentation. Performs most aspects of employee terminations. Tasks include preparing required separation notices, compiling relevant documentation, responding to unemployment requests, and ensuring access to technology is deactivated and company property is recovered. Plans, coordinates, and recommends training programs for new and existing employees. Manages employee relations, which include but is not limited to investigation of employee incidents and complaints, team-building and professional development opportunities. Partners with leadership to create an environment that aligns with HFHGBR values. Assists managers with performance reviews by providing guidance, relevant information, and administrative assistance. Updates wage changes in Human Resources software and ensures proper documentation is maintained. Develops and maintains appropriate human resource policies and procedures. Ensures that the organization follows the policies and procedures. Administers compensation and benefit plans, including health, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance plans. Coordinates open enrollment, changes, and terminations. Develops and maintains an Injury/Illness Prevention Program under the guidelines of OSHA for all office, ReStore and construction staff. Responsible for implementation of employee retention program with assistance from managers Keeps all personnel files up to date and legally compliant. Ensures the required postings of state and federal regulations.
Payroll and Support Functions:
Works closely with the Finance Director to perform the following: Assist with bi-weekly payroll. Tasks include, but are not limited to, ensuring manager review of time sheets, ensuring proper use of PTO, holiday and other non-work pay types, entering employee deductions and ensuring wage and deduction changes are properly reported. Responsible for coordination of PTO program in conjunction with payroll management software. Assist with or perform workers compensation monthly payroll reporting and annual audit. Assist with administration of 401k program including, but not limited to, biweekly remittance of payroll contributions, registration of new employees with administrator, coordinating changes to contributions and completing required annual filings such as Form 5500 and Form 8955-SSA.
Minimum Requirements Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree required A minimum of five years of Human Resources experience required Knowledge of employment and labor laws, compensation program administration, recruiting strategies and other HR programs is required. Human Resources certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred
Language Skills:
Ability to speak effectively before staff, Board, partner families and volunteers Capacity to develop and maintain successful and productive relationships with staff, Board, volunteers, and partner families
Organizational Skills:
Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function effectively under strict deadlines and shifting priorities
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel software required Ability to navigate effectively through internet-based programs and use Outlook email
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands; walks; sits; reaches with arms; may have to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Schedule:
Required to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week in HFHGBR office or a ReStore location. I understand that the above describes my daily functions in this position.
Pay:
$70,000.00 per year
