A Director of Human Resources manages human resources functions for a company or organization, including the recruiting, hiring and training of employees. Works with executive management to develop and implement staffing and compensation plans, and works to attract and retain qualified employees. Oversees training and development initiatives. Manages compensation and benefits structure and provides information to employees. Monitors compliance with employment-related regulations. Implements company policies and deals with staffing or disciplinary issues as needed.
Position Summary The Director of Human Resources serves as the organization's lead human resources professional, providing strategic and operational HR leadership across Health WorkForce New York. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, overseeing talent acquisition and onboarding, administering benefits and compensation, leading performance management initiatives, and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and partners closely with executive leadership to foster a positive workplace culture while supporting organizational growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Human Resources Leadership Serve as the organization's primary Human Resources professional. Provide guidance to leadership regarding employee relations, policy interpretation, and employment law. Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations. Maintain confidential personnel records. Employee Relations Investigate employee complaints and workplace concerns. Conduct workplace investigations. Manage disciplinary processes, corrective actions, and terminations. Provide coaching to supervisors regarding performance management. Facilitate conflict resolution. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Lead full-cycle recruitment. Develop job descriptions. Coordinate interviews and selection processes. Conduct reference and background checks. Manage onboarding and orientation. Develop employee retention initiatives. Performance Management Develop performance evaluation processes. Assist supervisors with employee coaching. Manage performance improvement plans. Track employee goals and professional development. Benefits & Compensation Administer employee benefit programs. Coordinate open enrollment.
