As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and serve as a trusted HR resource to ownership, leadership, supervisors, and employees. About the Role This is a hands-on HR leadership opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys being involved in all aspects of Human Resources. The Human Resources Manager will oversee and support the day-to-day HR function while partnering closely with leadership to strengthen employee relations, maintain compliance, support our workforce, and promote consistent HR practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring broad HR management experience, strong knowledge of employment regulations and HR best practices, and the ability to balance compliance requirements with practical business solutions. Because we operate within the trucking and construction industries, experience with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, safety, or other regulated work environments is especially valuable. Experience with employment law, labor law, contracts, regulatory compliance, or other legal matters is a plus but is not required. Candidates who have worked closely with employment counsel or have experience interpreting employment laws and advising leadership on workplace matters are encouraged to apply. What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and coordinate Human Resources processes and functions across the organization.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment , candidate selection, onboarding, and new-hire compliance.
  • Support employee relations and serve as a resource to supervisors and managers on workplace concerns.
  • Coach leadership regarding performance management, corrective action, documentation, and employee development.
  • Support and conduct workplace investigations and assist leadership with appropriate resolution and follow-up.
  • Develop, review, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment requirements, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, Workers' Compensation, unemployment, and other applicable regulations.
  • Monitor employment-related regulatory changes and recommend updates to company policies and practices.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, HSA, life insurance, and 401(k).
  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims and support return-to-work processes.
  • Develop, coordinate, and support employee and supervisor training initiatives.
  • Support company safety programs, compliance audits, and safety training.
  • Oversee and maintain compliance with applicable DOT and FMCSA requirements, including Hours of Service (HOS), driver qualification files, and routine safety audits.
  • Support OSHA compliance and other safety and regulatory requirements applicable to trucking and construction operations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, HR documentation, and safety-related files.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related HR/payroll coordination.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organizational needs, and HR best practices.
  • Identify potential employment-related risks and partner with leadership and outside legal counsel when appropriate.
What We're Looking For We are looking for an HR professional who is knowledgeable, approachable, organized, and comfortable working directly with both employees and leadership.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • A minimum of 5 years of Human Resources management experience, preferably within trucking, construction, manufacturing, or another regulated work environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA standards and DOT safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, corrective action, and management coaching.
  • Experience with employee benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, policy development, and HR documentation.
  • Experience supporting workplace safety and employee training programs.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and translate requirements into practical workplace policies and solutions.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general HR technology.
  • A self-motivated, hands-on approach and willingness to become an active part of the organization and its day-to-day operations.
Legal or Employment Law Experience While a law degree or legal license is not required, experience in employment law, labor law, regulatory compliance, contract review, risk management, or working directly with employment counsel is considered a plus. Candidates with this additional background may have opportunities to assist leadership with employment-related legal and compliance matters, review workplace agreements or other business documents, identify potential organizational risks, and coordinate with outside legal counsel as appropriate.
