About Brinker Simpson Brinker Simpson and Company is a CPA and advisory firm based in Media, PA, serving clients across the Greater Philadelphia region. We are a 73-person firm with the resources of a larger practice and the close-knit feel of a smaller one. About the Role We are hiring a Director of Human Resources to lead our HR strategy and day-to-day function. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to firm leadership, with a seat at the table on workforce planning, culture, and growth. The ideal candidate brings deep HR expertise, sharp judgment, and a real understanding of the rhythms of a public accounting environment, including the seasonal demands of tax and audit cycles. What You Will Do HR Strategy and Leadership Partner with firm leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support growth, retention, and operational efficiency Advise partners and managers on workforce planning and performance management Lead initiatives across employee engagement, culture, and retention Employee Relations and Performance Management Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions Coach managers on performance concerns, documentation, and improvement plans Ensure consistent and fair application of firm policies Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Oversee recruiting strategy across experienced hires, campus recruiting, and internships Partner with department leaders to identify hiring needs and strengthen time-to-fill and candidate quality Deliver a structured and meaningful onboarding experience Compensation and Benefits Manage and evaluate the firm's compensation structure, including salary benchmarking and bonus programs Oversee benefits administration and vendor relationships Recommend total rewards strategy to leadership Compliance and Risk Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies Manage employee-related risk and advise leadership on best practices HR Operations and Systems Oversee HR processes including payroll coordination, employee records, and HRIS systems (Paychex) Identify and implement process improvements Develop and track key HR metrics (turnover, retention, hiring) Training and Development Support leadership development for managers and emerging leaders Identify training needs and coordinate internal and external learning opportunities What You Bring Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 10 or more years of progressive HR experience, with 3 to 5 years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices Proven experience in employee relations and conflict resolution Experience managing HR operations in a small to mid-sized organization Preferred Experience in public accounting, professional services, or a similar environment HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) Experience in a partner-led or privately held firm Who You Are Strong interpersonal communicator with sound judgment and discretion Able to influence and build trust across all levels of an organization Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach Organized, process-minded, and comfortable balancing competing priorities Visible and accessible, especially during peak seasons Why Brinker Simpson Recently named a 2026 Philadelphia Top Workplaces winner A culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and genuine support Seat at the table with firm leadership on the decisions that shape our people strategy A firm investing in growth, infrastructure, and the future of its team Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with firm contribution, paid time off, summer flex schedule, and continuing education support.
