Part-time, Hourly up to 24 hours per week - opportunity for full-time About Tucson Botanical Gardens The Tucson Botanical Gardens is composed of two properties in the heart ofTucson:
a 5½-acre public garden and the Yume Japanese Gardens located one block south. The main Gardens — the former estate of the historic Porter family — now hosts 17 distinct display gardens, the Cox Butterfly & Orchid Pavilion, an outdoor garden railway, two gallery spaces, a curated gift shop, and an on-site café. Recognized as one of Tucson's top attractions and named by the Canada Garden Tourism Council as one of the Top 10 Public Gardens in North America to Visit (2017), the Tucson Botanical Gardens draws more than 100,000 visitors per year and maintains a membership of over 5,000 households. Key Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Human Resources Manager provides strategic leadership and management for all human capital functions across the organization. This position is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies to support the organization's overall business plan and strategic direction, specifically in workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, performance management, compensation and benefits, and organizational culture. The HR Manager serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensures compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations, and champions a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture.Core Duties Recruitment:
Coordinate job postings, screen candidates, arrange and support interviews.Hiring:
Verify references, facilitate onboarding via HR company, confirming drug screening and background checks are passed. Continue onboarding on date of hire, ensuring candidate understands company policies and procedures.Employee relations:
Help maintain a positive work environment by addressing workplace concerns via conflict resolution. Interpret policies, procedures and employee handbook.HR policy administration:
Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidance.Compliance:
Monitor adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and help ensure consistent application of workplace policies.Compensation and benefits:
Support pay practices, benefits administration, open enrollment, leave programs, and communication with employees and vendors.Performance management:
Coordinate performance review processes, assist managers with documentation, and support employee development planning.HR operations and records:
Maintain accurate personnel records, HR reports, employee data, and documentation related to employment actions.Skills & Competencies Knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and workplace compliance requirements. Strong communication, discretion, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to coach managers and employees on policies, performance, and workplace expectations. Organizational skills for managing multiple HR processes, deadlines, and confidential records. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, along with several years of progressive HR experience, or equivalent experience.
