Director of Human Resources, North America Location:
Benicia area /
Solano County, California Work Arrangement:
Hybrid, with one to two days remote per week and the remaining workdays on site A confidential, globally connected manufacturer serving premium consumer brands is seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources, North America. This is the senior HR role for the U.S. business and an opportunity to partner closely with the regional business leader while supporting a growing, multi-location organization. The Director will lead the full scope of Human Resources for a lean U.S. organization, balancing strategic partnership with direct day-to-day execution. This individual will operate as the primary local HR leader and will be expected to build credibility with employees and managers, strengthen HR infrastructure, and implement corporate people practices in a practical local operating environment. This position is based in Solano County. The successful candidate should live within a practical commuting distance and be comfortable being present on site for the majority of the workweek. Position Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor and hands-on HR partner to the senior regional business leader and local management team. Lead employee relations, manager coaching, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, training, compensation and benefits, payroll coordination, leave administration, and HR compliance. Build trust and strengthen the reputation of the HR function through responsiveness, sound judgment, clear communication, and consistent follow-through. Partner with Finance and business leaders on workforce planning, compensation administration, organizational needs, reporting, and people-related decisions. Support implementation of corporate HR policies, procedures, values, and programs within the local business. Partner with regional safety leadership to support local health and safety policy implementation, employee training, reporting, compliance, and follow-up actions. Maintain compliance with applicable federal, California, and local employment requirements. Build effective working relationships with regional and international HR and business partners. Support a distributed U.S. workforce that includes commercial, customer service, and warehouse-based employees. Contribute to the foundation for potential future regional HR scope across North America. Preferred Background 7 or more years of progressive HR leadership experience, including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, payroll, compliance, and HR operations. Experience serving as the top HR leader, second-in-command HR leader, or a highly autonomous HR business partner within a lean organization. Manufacturing, industrial, food and beverage, packaging, warehouse, distribution, or related operating-environment experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to personally manage both strategic HR priorities and hands-on operational work. Strong employee-relations judgment and experience coaching leaders through sensitive people matters. Experience supporting local implementation of workplace safety, compliance, or corporate EHS programs is preferred. Ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization and translate corporate requirements into practical local execution. Experience working across the U.S. and Mexico is helpful. Spanish language capability is a plus, but is not required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
Pay:
$150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
