Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR functions, lead HR initiatives, foster a positive, compliant, and productive workplace environment and support the company's risk management program. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in human resources management, with a focus on talent acquisition, employee relations, and organizational development. This role owns the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting through offboarding, and keeps MEDEX compliant with employment law. About 20% of the role covers risk: workplace safety, workers' compensation, insurance coordination, and incident management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader who is comfortable spotting and reducing risk across the organization.
Human resources responsibilities Talent acquisition:
Lead recruiting, interviewing, and hiring; manage job postings, background checks, and offer letters.
Onboarding and offboarding:
Run new-hire orientation, I-9 and E-Verify processing, and exit interviews.
Employee relations:
Act as the main contact for employee concerns; investigate complaints and resolve conflicts fairly and promptly.
Compliance:
Keep policies and practices compliant with federal, state, and local law, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and HIPAA as it applies to employee records.
Policies and handbook:
Maintain the employee handbook and HR policies; train managers on consistent application.
Compensation and benefits:
Administer payroll support, benefits enrollment, and leave programs; benchmark pay against the market.
Performance management:
Oversee annual reviews, goal setting, coaching, and corrective action.
Training and development:
Coordinate required training, licensure and certification tracking, and leadership development.
HR records and reporting:
Maintain HRIS data and personnel files; report on turnover, headcount, and other HR metrics. Risk management responsibilities Workers' compensation: Manage claims from first report through closure; work with the carrier, injured employees, and managers on return-to-work plans.
Workplace safety:
Coordinate the safety program and OSHA compliance Incident reporting: Maintain the incident reporting process; investigate employee and workplace incidents, find root causes, and track corrective actions.
Insurance coordination:
Support renewals and claims for general liability, professional liability, and employment practices liability (EPLI) coverage with brokers and carriers.
Risk assessment:
Identify operational and employment-related risks, and recommend controls to leadership.
Regulatory and audit readiness:
Prepare for internal audits and regulatory inspections; keep required documentation current. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field Proven experience in human resources management within a corporate environment, with a minimum of five years of progressive HR experience. Working knowledge of employment & labor law and HR compliance. Demonstrated expertise in talent management, benefits administration, regulatory compliance management, and project management. Knowledge HR sourcing strategies to optimize recruitment efforts. Proficiency in HR systems such as Paylocity & Power Bl. Experience handling complex employee relations issues including conflict management and performance management processes. Must be located in southern California (preferably around Orange County).
