We operate 17 movie theatres and 93 screens across Iowa and Nebraska. Robert Fridley founded the company, and the family has been in the movie industry since the 1930's. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join the Fridley Family who brings both strategic insight and day-to-day operational experience. This role will support employees and leaders while continuing to enhance HR programs, policies, and workplace culture.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing human resources strategies that align with business goals. Reporting to the President and as a member of the leadership team, the HR Manager will provide oversight of key areas including talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, employee engagement and recognition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, safety, compliance, and other people and culture-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will have prior HR management experience within a small to mid-sized company, possess a hands-on and collaborative leadership style, and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Core areas of responsibilities include:
Develop and execute the company's HR strategy in alignment with the organization's overall goals. Develop strategies and programs to identify and obtain top talent and oversee the recruitment process including candidate attraction, interviews and assessments, pre-hire screening, and offers of employment. Oversee an employee onboarding program that effectively orients new employees to the Company and supports new hire's assimilation. Maintain a positive, productive work environment by responding to questions and concerns, proactively addressing issues, and advising the team on best practices. Conduct a range of employee relations investigations in response to employee concerns, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Develop scalable methodologies and tools to optimize HR operations and streamline core processes like onboarding, hiring, terminations, retirements, timekeeping, and others that make up the employment life cycle. Review and manage the performance evaluation process. Advise management of best practices, trends and identify issues related to performance management programs. Manage and execute employee training and development programs, including ongoing employee development plans, leadership coaching programs, and continuing education. Develop trusted relationships with employees and leaders across the organization that support the Company's open-door policy and fosters free discussions regarding concerns. Regularly assess benefits programs and adjusts as needed to maintain a competitive position in the market for attracting, retaining, and incentivizing top talent. Evaluate, select, and manage HR process, outsourcing vendors, and contracts. Maintain vendor relationships for employee benefits and services. Manage and administer employee benefits including, healthcare, 401k, paid time off, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance. Manage all payroll processes. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply knowledge to recommend changes in policy, practice, and resources. Develop, craft, and articulate workplace policies. Maintain and update employee handbook.QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field is required. At least three (3) years of HR experience is required. Prior HR Management experience in a small to mid-size company is preferred. Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred. Professional certification such as Society for Human Resource Management-CP, Society for Human Resource Management-SCP, or equivalent HR certification preferred. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, and statutes which govern employment policies and practices. Thorough understanding and application of internal and external Human Resource principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization. Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator.
