Job Description
Position:
HR Manager This is a one-person HR department, and you will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR and payroll functions for 50+ employees. This position is based at our headquarters in Windsor Mill, Maryland and reports directly to the CFO. Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):- Process bi-weekly payroll, including salary changes, benefit deductions, tax deductions, and other payroll-related items
- Lead the full-cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, and coordinating with hiring managers to interview and select in a timely manner
- Handle workers' compensation, unemployment claims, legal compliance, and other administrative tasks
- Advise management on the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the company's union contract and serve as the first point of contact for labor relations matters
- Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions, and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting remain compliant
- Manage and conduct new employee onboarding
- Recommend and coordinate training and development opportunities
- Coordinate management training on interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, employee relations, safety, and sexual harassment prevention
- Update employee handbooks, job descriptions, performance appraisals, and other employee correspondence
- Administer benefits programs such as life, health, vision, and dental insurance, 401(k), vacation, and sick leave
- Respond to inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and programs
- Support and administer HR goals and objectives developed with management
