Position Summary The Human Resources Manager will lead all aspects of Human Resources for MWHQ and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people-related strategies and initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this individual will oversee talent acquisition, employee relations, onboarding, compliance, payroll support, benefits administration, performance management, HRIS administration, policy development, training, and employee engagement. This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic planning with daily HR operations while helping establish scalable processes that support the company's continued growth. Key ResponsibilitiesHR Leadership & Operations Lead and manage all day-to-day Human Resources functions. Develop and improve HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Maintain and update the Employee Handbook. Partner with leadership to support workforce planning and organizational growth. Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, attendance, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation. Foster a positive, professional, and high-performing workplace culture. Support organizational changes and continuous improvement initiatives. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from sourcing through onboarding. Develop recruiting strategies to attract high-quality talent. Create compelling job advertisements across multiple recruiting platforms. Conduct candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and offer administration. Partner with department managers to understand staffing needs and hiring priorities. Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure new employees have a successful start. Monitor recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, quality of hire, and candidate experience. Employee Relations Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and supervisors. Provide guidance on workplace concerns and employment-related issues. Conduct investigations involving employee complaints or policy violations. Recommend appropriate corrective actions when necessary. Promote respectful communication and positive employee engagement. Coordinate employee recognition and retention initiatives. Manage employee separations, exit interviews, and offboarding processes. Performance Management Administer the company's performance management process. Assist managers with goal setting, coaching, documentation, and employee development. Support performance improvement plans when necessary. Help leadership identify training and career development opportunities. Promote accountability through consistent performance standards. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support Assist with compensation planning and salary benchmarking. Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and leave programs. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities. Support payroll administration through ADP Workforce Now by ensuring employee information is accurate and current. Resolve payroll and benefits-related questions in partnership with payroll providers and benefit brokers. Maintain compliance with applicable leave and benefit regulations. HR Systems & Reporting Serve as administrator for the company's HRIS platform, maintaining accurate employee records and system integrity. Generate HR reports and dashboards related to recruiting, turnover, headcount, attendance, and workforce trends. Analyze HR data to support business decisions and continuous improvement. Maintain confidentiality of all employee information and HR records. Compliance & Policy Administration Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, Illinois, and local employment laws and regulations.Training & Employee Development Develop and coordinate onboarding programs that help new employees integrate quickly and successfully. Identify training needs across departments and coordinate learning opportunities. Support leadership development and employee growth initiatives. Assist managers in developing career paths and succession planning strategies. Coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events. Promote a culture focused on learning, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Performance Expectations Success in this role will be measured through: Timely recruitment and successful hiring of qualified candidates. Positive employee engagement and retention. Accurate HR records and HRIS administration. Payroll and benefits administration accuracy. Completion of onboarding and training initiatives. Compliance with employment laws and internal policies. Timely resolution of employee relations matters. Continuous improvement of HR processes and operational efficiency. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience. At least 2 years of experience in an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, HR Lead, or Senior HR Generalist role. Experience managing full-cycle recruiting across multiple departments. Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. Experience supporting payroll using ADP Workforce Now or a comparable payroll platform. Experience working with HRIS systems such as Odoo, BambooHR, Rippling, UKG, Paycom, Workday, or similar. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. Preferred SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. Experience building or improving HR processes within a growing company. Experience supporting wholesale distribution, logistics, manufacturing, retail, or supply chain organizations. Experience developing compensation structures and employee engagement programs. Bilingual skills are a plus. The HR Manager works closely with company leadership and employees across all departments in a professional office environment. Daily responsibilities include working with HR technology platforms, payroll systems, recruiting software, and standard office equipment. This is an on-site position. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate effectively, and occasionally lift or move office materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Schedule Full-Time Exempt Position Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Occasional flexibility may be required to support recruiting events, onboarding activities, or business needs. Travel Minimal local travel may occasionally be required for business-related activities. Maintain policies and procedures that reflect current legal and business requirements. Conduct periodic HR audits to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records. Coordinate required employment reporting and documentation. Support compliance with wage and hour laws, OSHA requirements, workers' compensation, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, ACA, EEOC, and other employment regulations.
