Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Director to guide people operations and related support functions in a manufacturing environment in South San Antonio. This role will provide senior leadership across human resources, benefits administration, environmental health and safety, employee events, and facilities support while strengthening compliance, team capability, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct and align the work of teams responsible for human resources, environmental health and safety, benefits, employee engagement events, and facility maintenance functions.
  • Coach managers and team leads to strengthen leadership capability, improve decision-making, and support consistent execution across departments.
  • Develop and implement people strategies, policies, and programs that support business goals and foster a productive workplace culture.
  • Oversee HR operations, benefits administration, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to employment laws, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership by providing guidance on employee matters, organizational development, and companywide training initiatives.
  • Use reporting, metrics, and trend analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased operational efficiency.
  • Assess staff development needs and create training plans that build skills, improve performance, and support career growth within the department.
  • Partner with employees and leaders to strengthen morale, address workplace concerns with professionalism, and promote constructive problem resolution.
  • Review benefit offerings and recommend improvements that enhance consistency, value, and effectiveness for the organization.
  • Coordinate employee programs, company events, affirmative action plan activities, and required travel to support business and cross-site needs. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience supported by an HR certification.
  • At least 7 years of human resources experience with depth in employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruiting, and organizational development.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law, compliance practices, and workplace investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects from start to finish, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proven skill in building relationships, maintaining confidentiality, solving problems effectively, and following through on commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with general comfort using web-based business tools and HR/payroll systems.
  • Experience with workers' compensation, safety programs, and bilingual English/Spanish communication is preferred.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods, remain seated or standing for 8 to 10 hours as needed, and travel regularly, including international travel, with a valid passport.
