Job Description

Join our dynamic team as an HR Manager supporting two incredible National Park destinations, where meaningful work, breathtaking surroundings, and a strong commitment to our employees come together. This role works on site at Shenandoah National Park and oversees all aspects of the human resources function across two locations, supporting up to 400 employees. The HR Manager leads employee relations, recruiting, performance management, compliance, workers' compensation, benefits, employee housing support, and other HR functions while supervising and developing site HR staff. This role also partners closely with property and corporate leadership to ensure consistent, effective HR practices and a positive employee experience across both locations. Some Responsibilities Include:
Oversee the effective delivery of HR programs, processes, and services across multiple sites, ensuring consistency and alignment with Company policies and applicable regulations. Lead employee relations, providing guidance to employees and managers on workplace concerns, conflicts, performance issues, and policy matters. Conduct and document timely, thorough, objective, and confidential employee relations investigations, escalating findings and recommendations as appropriate. Lead recruiting and talent acquisition efforts, ensuring job postings remain current, qualified candidates are identified, and hiring decisions are made promptly in partnership with site leadership. Support the interview process for General Manager positions and, as requested, department manager positions. Partner with the Director of Human Resources to develop and implement programs and training that strengthen the talent pipeline and employee productivity. Train, onboard, and develop site HR professionals and ensure new hires receive a thorough, timely, and consistent onboarding experience. Oversee accurate employee documentation, records retention, and maintenance of Employee Handbooks and required compliance materials. Provide employees with benefits information and enrollment support, ensuring eligible employees are properly enrolled and receive clear, timely communication. Partner with Payroll and Housing to address employee housing, compensation, benefits, deductions, refunds, and related payroll matters. Ensure timely and accurate processing of workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, legal garnishments, vacation and sick leave, and other HR-related matters. Partner with Corporate Management to ensure wage changes receive appropriate approval and communication. Maintain compliance with applicable employment laws, Company policies, and regulatory requirements. Support the Company's ISO management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and fulfill related responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
3-5 years of progressive HR management experience, preferably in a high-volume, multi-site resort, hospitality, or National Park environment. Strong employee relations experience with sound judgment and demonstrated ability to manage sensitive workplace matters. Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to supervise, develop, and support HR staff and interns. Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple locations and with diverse personalities. Strong knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment laws and regulations in a high-volume, multi-site environment. Willingness to work on-site at Shenandoah National Park with potential periodic travel. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality. High level of professionalism and compassion while upholding the Company's values of respect, trust, accountability, honesty, and integrity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS, ATS, payroll, and other HR-related systems. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; high school diploma required. PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification highly desired.
