Job Description

First Light Technologies Inc. is a small privately owned manufacturer of Ultraviolet Light Bulbs with 54 employees. We have been in business for over 32 years, supplying customers around the world in 26+ countries with superior quality UV bulbs for water, air, and surface disinfection needs. Our UV lamps are essential for critical applications such as municipal drinking water & wastewater treatment plants, high purity water for semiconductor and pharmaceutical applications, as well as food and beverage processing line disinfection. If you're an energetic, innovative thinker, with ambitions to make sound business decisions, then we'd like to interview you for this leadership team position. You'll be partnering with the General Manager to ensure overall success in financial management, human resources, and overall business management. We are a small company, providing the ability to wear many hats, allowing for day-to-day diversity in responsibilities, while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Management Oversee and provide backup to existing accounting staff for duties including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, 1099 tax forms, filing of excise tax returns and quarterly sales and use tax returns. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements Maintain accurate financial records Manage month-end and year-end closing processes Develop and monitor company budgets and forecasts Manage cash flow and banking relationships Oversee reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts Prepare financial reports for ownership Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax preparation and annual reviews Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Maintain asset depreciation schedule Business insurance oversight of related policies Business Management
  • Become a superuser of our Epicor ERP computer system, ensuring seamless business continuity across all department system functions, while allowing for the ability to assist users in need
  • Work with outside IT service provider to manage IT contracts and ongoing needs
  • Partner with General Manager to ensure positive strategic influence of o Profit strategies o People strategies o Regulatory compliance o Long term business planning Oversee and partner with existing compliance staff for reporting of state and federal regulations including hazardous waste, storm water runoff, and OSHA compliance Ensure proper execution of physical inventory count processes and procedures Recommend process improvements and operational efficiencies Payroll Oversee and provide backup to existing payroll personnel and outside payroll administrator to: Process weekly payroll Ensure proper withholding, tax reporting, and payroll compliance Manage employee timekeeping and labor allocation Oversee maintenance of payroll reports and quarterly payroll tax filings Maintain employee payroll records and confidentiality Employee Benefits & Retirement Program Oversight Work with outside benefits consultants to administer health, dental, vision, and ancillary benefit programs, while maintaining cost effective and competitive options in the best interest of the company and staff Serve as a liaison with benefit providers and brokers Oversee annual benefits enrollment and employee communications Administer company retirement plans, including 401(k) enrollments, contributions, and compliance reporting Assist employees with benefit questions and issue resolutions Human Resources Management Oversee and partner with existing benefits administrator to: Coordinate employee onboarding activities Maintain new hire documentation, employee handbook policies, and procedures Maintain employee personnel files and HR records Support employee relations and address routine HR matters Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations Manage workers' compensation claims and reporting Promote workplace culture initiatives through team building events, ongoing activities, and employee recognition efforts Ensure a fair, happy, healthy, and satisfying workplace environment Oversee safety committee and employee adherence to in-house safety program Compliance Oversight Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations Coordinate audits and regulatory reporting requirements Recommend and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field preferred Strong leadership skills 5+ years accounting and financial management experience Human resources experience preferred, or a passion and commitment to become SHRM certified Ability to make sound and strategic business decisions Experience managing employee benefits, retirement plans, and insurance programs a plus Payroll experience Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills Strong attention to detail
