The Opportunity:
Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team at our Homer, Alaska location. This position touches every aspect of Human Resources (HR), including retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll, and training. If you enjoy a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment, we have the place for you. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to: Research, gather, organize and prepare historical, compliance related and regulatory data as assigned. Coordinate scheduling interviews, in-state or out-of-state travel coordination, training events and meeting arrangements. Maintain a schedule on a computer calendar and take notes at various meetings as assigned. Assist employees with updating employment documents as may be required for the processing of employment file or payroll data changes. Maintain department records and filing systems for both physical and electronic files. May require extended periods of filing and data entry. Prepare professional-level documents and presentations for HR functions and training. Provide primary backup and support for the HR Generalist when absent or as otherwise required for the completion of the department's duties. Provides support to the HR & Administrative Services Manager as requested and acts as secondary backup in the absence of the HR & Administrative Services Manager and the HR Generalist. What makes you a good fit: A successful candidate will have a background demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and extraordinary organizational skills. The ability to coordinate with outside agencies, internal employees and management staff with the utmost confidentiality. Associate's degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; in lieu of the degree requirement, an additional four years of applicable experience may replace the degree requirement. Minimum of three years of human resources or related administrative experience, with demonstrated responsibility for supporting multiple HR functions. Experience in a shared services or regulated environment preferred.
