Job Summary Genesis is seeking an HR Generalist to be the day-to-day HR partner for employees and managers across a fast-paced, regulated debt recovery operation. This role runs the employee lifecycle from recruiting and onboarding through leave, performance, and offboarding, and keeps HR practices compliant with employment law and the standards that apply to collection agencies. The HR Generalist works closely with Collections, Operations, Compliance, Training, Legal, and IT, and helps support and partner the company's internal HR platform for leave of absence, onboarding, and offboarding. The ideal candidate is organized, discreet, and comfortable handling sensitive matters with fairness and good judgment. Recruiting, Onboarding, and Offboarding Support recruiting. Post openings, screen candidates, schedule interviews, coordinate with hiring managers, and manage offers, with extra attention to high-volume collector hiring. Run onboarding. Complete new-hire paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify, background checks consistent with collection industry and client requirements, system access requests, and first-week schedules with Training and IT. Run offboarding. Process resignations and terminations, exit interviews, final pay coordination, equipment return, and timely removal of system access with IT. Employee Relations Be the first point of contact. Answer employee and manager questions on policy, pay, schedules, and conduct, and escalate appropriately. Handle concerns and investigations. Document and help investigate complaints, coach managers, and support progressive discipline that is consistent and well documented. Support engagement and retention. Track turnover trends, conduct stay and exit interviews, and recommend practical improvements. Leave, Benefits, and Payroll Support Administer leave. Manage FMLA, state leave, ADA accommodation requests, and workers' compensation claims, keeping accurate and confidential records. Support benefits. Handle enrollment, changes, open enrollment, and carrier questions, and reconcile benefit deductions. Coordinate with payroll. Verify new hires, changes, time off, and terminations so employees are paid accurately and on time. Compliance, Policy, and Records Keep HR compliant. Apply federal and state wage-and-hour, EEO, FMLA, ADA, and posting requirements, and support audits and client or licensing reviews. Maintain policies. Draft, update, and distribute the employee handbook and HR policies, and track employee acknowledgments. Keep clean records. Maintain personnel files, I-9s, training and certification records, and confidential medical files in separate, secure locations. Coordinate required training. Partner with Training and Compliance so new hires and employees complete compliance, security, and harassment-prevention training on time. HR Systems and Reporting Use and improve the HR platform. Help build, test, and run leave, onboarding, and offboarding workflows, and work with IT to remove manual steps. Report on people data. Produce headcount, turnover, attendance, leave, and open-position reports for leadership. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of HR generalist experience covering recruiting, employee relations, leave administration, and compliance. Working knowledge of federal and state employment law, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO. Strong discretion with confidential information, with clear written and verbal communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an HRIS or payroll system, and strong attention to detail. Preferred PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or
SHRM-SCP
certification. Experience in a call center, collections, or other regulated financial services environment. Experience supporting SOC 2 or client audits, and familiarity with EOS or a similar operating framework. Experience configuring or improving HR workflows and automation.
