Job Description

CG Landscape is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and proactive Payroll & Culture Generalist to join our People & Culture team. This role plays a critical role in processing payroll through the Inova Payroll System (UKG) and supports key HR operations such as certified payroll reporting, onboarding, orientation, benefits administration, and labor law compliance . The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial concepts, payroll practices , and HRIS system proficiency , ensuring accuracy in employee data and payroll operations. Bilingual Spanish is required. In addition to the core responsibilities, this position will also serve as a backup for broader People & Culture (HR) functions including leave of absence management, performance management, employee relations, and compliance reporting , and will provide general support to the People & Culture Generalist as needed. Essential Functions Primary Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Process weekly payroll through Inova Payroll System (UKG) , ensuring accuracy and timely distribution of wages. Handle payroll-related entries, adjustments, and ensure compliance with all wage and hour laws. Manage certified payroll reporting and maintain prevailing wage compliance documentation as needed. Coordinate closely with P&C Director for payroll reconciliations and audits.
Onboarding & Orientation:
Coordinate and conduct new hire onboarding and orientation processes, ensuring smooth integration of new employees. Ensure proper completion of new hire paperwork and system data entry.
Employee Benefits Administration:
Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and other ancillary plans. Assist employees with benefits-related questions and coordinate with carriers as necessary. Support annual benefits enrollment and communicate plan changes effectively.
HRIS Management:
Maintain employee data and records within the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Run HRIS reports as needed to support audits, compliance, and workforce planning.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor regulations. Support mandatory reporting requirements (e.g., EEO, 5500, ACA).
Backup Responsibilities:
Serve as backup for tracking and managing employee leaves including FMLA, disability, and personal leaves. Ensure accurate documentation and timely communication with employees and managers. Assist in administering the performance review process as a backup resource. Support employee relations and conflict resolution efforts when needed. Provide support in workers' compensation claims management and incident tracking as needed. Assist with safety initiatives, OSHA compliance, and incident investigations as a backup.
Policy & Handbook Support:
Support the maintenance and communication of HR policies and the employee handbook. Provide backup guidance to employees and supervisors on policy interpretation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, including payroll processing. Experience with Inova Payroll (UKG platform) highly preferred. Strong understanding of financial/accounting principles , payroll tax regulations, and benefits administration. Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements. Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Bilingual in Spanish (verbal and written) preferred. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Work Environment:
This role is based in an office environment, with occasional travel to other company locations (Santa Fe Springs, Corona, San Bernardino) to provide P&C support.
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent sitting, speaking, listening, and use of a computer. Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs may be needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-Time, Exempt Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Some Saturdays - minimal as needed
