We are seeking a hands-on Senior HR Generalist to oversee the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation coordination, and payroll operations. This role is vital to ensuring smooth operations within our organization and is ideal for someone who thrives in a small to mid-sized environment. The ideal candidate is a strong HR generalist who is comfortable managing a wide range of responsibilities across the employee lifecycle and providing high-level Human Resources support while coordinating payroll and employee-related services.About Us:
California Career Institute is a healthcare education institution with campuses in Anaheim and Hawthorne, California. This position is based at our Anaheim campus. We offer programs in Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Medical Assistant (MA), and Associate degree programs in Vocational Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography. We have approximately 85 employees (45 full-time) and operate in a hands-on environment where team members manage a broad range of responsibilities. The HR function primarily supports operations at the Anaheim campus.Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations, particularly California labor laws
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Oversee performance management processes, including employee reviews and performance improvement plans
- Support compensation practices, including offer coordination and salary adjustments
- Coordinate payroll processing and maintain employee records
- Collaborate with ADP advisors to implement and enforce HR policies
- Utilize ADP TotalSource for payroll processing and reporting
- Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR and payroll inquiries
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, policies, and employee records
- Support leadership with employee development and training initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 5-8 years of Human Resources experience required
- Strong experience as a hands-on HR Generalist in a small to mid-sized organization preferred
- Strong experience in employee relations, onboarding, and disciplinary processes
- Experience supporting performance management and employee development
- Exposure to compensation practices (salary adjustments, offers, pay coordination)
- Experience with ADP TotalSource or similar payroll systems preferred
- Solid understanding of California labor laws and compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficient in ADP HR management systems, payroll software, and standard office software
