Job Description

Job Overview The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's people strategy by fostering positive employee relations, conducting workplace investigations, administering employee discipline, and delivering employee training programs. This role serves as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment laws, and best HR practices while promoting a respectful, inclusive, and productive work environment. Help foster a culture of fairness and consistency for all.
Essential Duties:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance to employees and supervisors. Foster a positive workplace culture through effective communication and conflict resolution. Partner with leadership to address employee concerns while promoting consistency and fairness. Apply company policies, procedures, and employment regulations. Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, and other workplace issues. Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive matter. Advise and support managers on appropriate corrective action and progressive discipline procedures. Prepare and review disciplinary documentation, including verbal warnings, written warnings, performance improvement plans, suspensions, and termination recommendations. Ensure disciplinary actions are consistent, legally compliant, and aligned with company policies. Assist and facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding programs. Deliver training on company policies, workplace conduct, harassment prevention, performance management, and other HR-related topics. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records. Sense of urgency and address issues providing a resolution. Support HR initiatives, employee engagement programs, and organizational development efforts. Maintain documentation for audits and compliance purposes in accordance with company policies, Federal, States and Local Laws. Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective presentation and training facilitation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Key Competencies:
Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a strong background in employee relations. Demonstrated experience conducting complex and confidential workplace investigations, including interviewing employees and evaluating evidence. Experience handling employee complaints, workplace conflicts, disciplinary matters, grievances, and policy violations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Intermediate to advance with Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) is preferred.
Supervisory Duties:
No supervisory duties.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel between company offices, packing facilities, and field locations within Merced County and surrounding areas.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged standing for orientations and trainings. Climb steps to access buildings and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time. Must be able to work around moving equipment and forklift traffic. Fluctuating temperatures, including heat and cold. Dust, dirt, and agricultural residue. Uneven, wet or slippery floors from indoor and outdoor environments. May be required to work overtime, weekends, or varying shifts during peak season.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
