The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the organization by offering guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and HR best practices while facilitating positive working relationships between employees, supervisors, and management. Duties and responsibilities Implement, administer, and communicate employee policies and procedures in alignment with company practices and applicable employment laws. Ensure company compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including required reporting and recordkeeping obligations. Support compliance with governmental and labor requirements, including those related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, workers' compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other applicable employment laws and regulations. Protect the interests of the company and employees by consistently applying company Human Resources policies and applicable laws and regulations. Administer new employee onboarding and orientation processes. Serve as a link between management and employees by responding to questions, interpreting and administering company policies and applicable agreements, and helping resolve work-related concerns. Provide high-quality guidance and support to management on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and related workplace matters. Support the HR department in implementing programs and initiatives that help improve the employee experience, engagement, retention, and overall workplace culture. Maintains employee-related databases and prepares and analyzes reports necessary to support the functions of the Human Resources department and the company. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested. Utilize Human Resources systems and technology to improve efficiency, reporting, data accuracy, and overall HR department effectiveness. Provide proactive recruiting support, including assisting with job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and communication with hiring managers. Identify opportunities to improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, and employee-facing processes. Prepare termination, separation, and severance-related letters and documentation in coordination with HR leadership and legal counsel, as appropriate. Provide guidance, training, and support to HR team members on HR processes, systems, and best practices, as needed. Qualifications Minimum of five years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, with hands-on experience supporting employee relations, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, policy administration, and compliance with federal and California employment laws in a complex, multi-site organization. General knowledge of employment laws and practices Expertise in HR policies and procedures Strong knowledge of hiring processes Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations Sound judgment and problem-solving skills Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion Familiarity with MS Office. Excellent communication skills Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant Human Resources experience may be considered. Master's degree preferred. Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources positions, preferably in a construction, utility, field-operations, or multi-site environment. Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
