Job Description
Job Summary A busy, stable construction company is seeking an HR Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in the Escondido, CA market, supporting on-site operations in Mira Mesa. This role is ideal for an HR professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who enjoys handling both Leave of Absence administration and Employee Relations in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. The HR Specialist will be part of a collaborative team that values responsive communication, practical problem solving, and strong internal support for employees and managers. Key Responsibilities
- Administer employee Leave of Absence processes, including documentation, tracking, communication, and compliance follow-up.
- Support Employee Relations matters by assisting with investigations, coaching managers, documenting issues, and helping resolve workplace concerns.
- Provide HR guidance to employees and supervisors regarding policies, procedures, leave eligibility, workplace expectations, and employee concerns.
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure confidential handling of employee information and case documentation.
- Partner with HR leadership and operations teams to support compliance, consistency, and positive employee experiences across the organization.
- Assist with general HR projects and administrative needs in a busy construction environment. Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $30 to $35 per hour.
- Job type: Temp-to-hire.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.- Work arrangement: On-site. Required Qualifications and Skills
- Administer Leave of Absence programs and maintain accurate leave tracking and documentation.
- Support Employee Relations cases, including employee concerns, manager guidance, and workplace issue resolution.
- Partner with managers and HR leadership to apply policies consistently and support compliance.
- Maintain confidential HR records and provide responsive support to employees.
- 3 to 5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Specialist, HR Generalist, or similar role.
- Experience with Leave of Absence administration, including employee communication, documentation, and compliance tracking.
- Employee Relations experience, including issue intake, documentation, investigations support, and manager coaching.
- Working knowledge of HR policies, employment practices, and applicable California and federal employment regulations.
- Strong communication, confidentiality, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, primarily on-site environment.
- Comfortable supporting employees and leaders in a practical, professional, and solutions-oriented manner. Preferred Qualifications
- HR experience in construction, field services, manufacturing, or another operationally focused industry.
- Familiarity with California leave laws and related HR compliance requirements.
- Experience using HRIS systems or employee case tracking tools.
- Ability to build trust with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams.
