Job Description

We are looking for an adaptable HR Generalist to join a construction-focused organization in Ontario, California on a Contract basis. This position supports essential people operations across payroll, employee relations, compliance, and onboarding in a collaborative and fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate brings a practical, hands-on approach to HR while building strong working relationships across the business.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer end-to-end payroll activities with close attention to accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace issues, and sensitive conflict resolution.
  • Prepare and process personnel changes such as transfers, promotions, and separations, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and properly maintained.
  • Monitor HR practices for compliance with federal and California employment requirements, including wage and hour standards and labor-related documentation.
  • Coordinate leave administration and maintain clear communication with employees regarding eligibility, status updates, and required records.
  • Manage employment verification files, including I-9 completion and record retention, while keeping employee data organized and current.
  • Lead onboarding activities and orientation sessions that help new hires integrate smoothly into the organization.
  • Collaborate with recruiting partners and hiring leaders to support selection decisions and improve the overall hiring process.
  • Contribute to HR process improvements within HRIS and payroll systems to strengthen efficiency, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Support workplace safety and related compliance efforts in alignment with industry expectations and company standards.
