Job Description

Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Summary:
The Human Resources Associate serves as a key partner to employees and leaders by supporting a broad range of human resources functions that promote an engaged, compliant, and mission-driven workplace. This role provides administrative support in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll coordination, benefits administration, training, records management, and HR compliance. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to Mercy House's mission of ending homelessness through compassionate service and operational excellence. The role may require travel to various Mercy House locations throughout the regions served by the organization.
Responsibilities:
I.
Payroll Administration:
Support addressing payroll-related inquiries from employees and management, providing timely and accurate responses. Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist to ensure payroll data accuracy and compliance. II.
Benefits Administration:
Assist the Benefits Specialist in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries. III.
Records Maintenance:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, employment history, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Prepare reports and documentation as required by regulatory agencies or organizational policies. File training documents and oversee management of employee personnel documents. Support audits and reviews by providing necessary documentation and information. IV.
HR Support:
Provide general HR support to employees and management on various HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, and employment laws. Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing HR processes and employee experience. V.
Miscellaneous:
Attend staff meetings. Attend quarterly trainings. Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications. Take initiative; demonstrate strong decision-making and organizational skills. Initiate best practices; develop efficiency improvements. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.
Requirements:
1+ years in HR or a related field Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEO Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers. Familiarity with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proactive problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
