PURPOSE OF CLASS
At UConn Health, this class is accountable for performing a full range of technical and paraprofessional human resources duties in the processing, analysis, verification and maintenance of employee personnel transactions and records.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under general supervision of an HR Coordinator or Director of Operations.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May lead lower-level employees
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Processes, enters, updates, and retrieves employee information and personnel transactions in human resources information systems; Audits personnel actions and related documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and bargaining unit agreements; Monitors employee working test periods and processes completions, extensions, and adjustments; Conducts research and audits of employee service, seniority, longevity, salary, employment history, and other personnel information; Calculates and verifies compensation and service credit and processes or recommends adjustments as appropriate; Researches licensing information, verifies employee licenses and certifications, tracks expiration, and reports non-compliance to appropriate leadership; Provides employment verifications and responds to requests for authorized personnel information from employees, human resources staff, departments, state agencies, and other authorized parties; Creates, maintains, updates, retrieves, and archives personnel records and files in accordance with records retention requirements and established procedures; Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, and other personnel-related documents and communicates with stakeholders regarding human resources processes and requirements; Explains regulations, policies, and procedures to employees; Assists with audits, compliance reviews, special projects, and process improvement initiatives; Performs related duties a required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL
AND ABILITY
Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration. Knowledge of relevant State and Federal statutes, regulations policies and procedures. Knowledge of personal transactions and employee recordsl Skill in performing calculations. Skill in interpersonal skills; oral and written communication. Ability to utilize human resource information systems. Ability to gather data, identify discrepancies, and resolve routine issues.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Three (3) years of experience administrative work.
SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in human resources, personnel administration, employee records, or a closely related area.
SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of three (3) years.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment and requires use of computer systems and standard office equipment. Work may involve periods of prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to review detailed information on computer screens. Incumbents in this class are required to maintain confidentiality and appropriately access and use systems containing confidential employee and personnel information.
SCHEDULE
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
SALARY:
The minimum salary for this position is $73,585.00.
