Job Description
The Phoenix Company is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Human Resource Specialist to act as the vital link between our leadership and production staff. If you are a versatile "people specialist" who thrives in a manufacturing/production environment and excels at managing the entire employee lifecycle, we want you on our team!
The Role:
The Human Resource Specialist will assist with day-to-day HR activities, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and labor law compliance. This position requires a proactive problem-solver who can foster a positive work environment, improve departmental communication, and ensure our team's needs are met.Education and Experience:
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of human resource experience.Industry Experience :
Direct HR experience in a manufacturing, production, or related environment is required.Education :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.Skills :
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS software, and payroll/attendance systems.Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally across all levels of the organization.Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding & Training :
Conduct new employee orientations, guiding new hires through company benefit offerings and ensuring a welcoming first-day experience.Employee Relations :
Provide firsthand support to staff and management, fostering morale and coordinating the resolution of workplace concerns.Administration :
Assists employees with employee health insurance elections, retirement plan enrollments, completion of FMLA/Disability paperwork and coordinates filings for first report of injuries to worker's compensation carrier.Compliance & Policy :
Administer State and Federal Laws governing the workplace, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation.Recruitment :
Post job openings, schedule interviews, review application/resumes, evaluate applicant skills and properly log candidates for EEO-1 compliance.Records & Systems :
Maintain accurate personnel records, utilizing HRIS systems and attendance/payroll systems effectively.Performance Management :
Coordinate evaluations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement processesSuccess Factors:
Detailed knowledge of federal and state applicable laws concerning employment. Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent people skills. Ability to work well with all levels of management; sensitive to a diverse workforce with a wide variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, and experiences.About The Phoenix Company of Chicago:
