HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALISTS
The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the HR Department through a diverse range of responsibilities. The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle for a fast‑paced, 24/7 towing and recovery company. This role partners closely with Operations, Dispatch, and Safety to recruit, administration staff, CDL and non‑CDL drivers, ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA, OSHA, FLSA, and Florida employment requirements, administer benefits and leaves, resolve employee relations issues, and maintain accurate HRIS/records.
Duties and responsibilities:
Manage full cycle recruitment for drivers, dispatchers, yard personnel and administrative staff, including job postings, applicant screening, interviews and offer negotiations. Conduct all pre-employment screenings, including MVR Checks, background checks, DOT and non - DOT drug/alcohol testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. Coordinate and facilitate comprehensive onboarding processes, including I-9 verification, E-Verify submissions prior to the end of the 3rd day of employee work, non-disclosure agreements, policy acknowledgment and safety training. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including policy interpretation, conflict resolutions, corrective actions, and terminations; conduct through workplace investigations and maintain accurate documentation of findings and outcomes. Actively support employee engagement, recognition and retention strategies tailored to the needs of a diverse 24/7 workforce. Administer employee benefit programs, including new hire enrollments, qualifying events and annual open enrollment; serves as the liaison between employees and insurance brokers or benefit vendors to ensure accurate and timely resolutions of inquiries. Assist the schedule coordinator in ensuring accuracy of timekeeping records for non-exempt staff, including monitoring on-call shifts, overtime, shift differentials, and compliance with meal and rest breaks, as well as tracking verifying driving hours for drivers in accordance with DOT Regulations. Assist the payroll team to support audits, process adjustments and review timesheet approvals to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing; proactively learn payroll procedures and systems to serve as a back up when needed. Ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state employment regulations, including but not limited to FLSA. FMLA, ADA, Title VII, USERRA, Pump Act, PWFA, E-verify requirements, and worker's compensation. Support
FMCSA/DOT
compliance initiatives, including maintaining driver qualifications files, managing random drug and alcohol testing programs and tracking valid medical certifications. Monitor and document workplace injuries, coordinate worker's compensation claims and collaborate with the Safety team to implement effective return-to-work programs; ensure all related records are accurately maintained and updated in the HRIS system. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, company policies, labor law posters, and all required employment- related notices. Coordinate and schedule safety, harassment-prevention, supervisory and compliance trainings; maintain accurate training records and track completion to ensure regulatory and company-wide compliance. Support employee development initiatives by assisting in the creation of career paths for dispatchers, drivers and aspiring supervisors, promoting internal growth and succession planning. Maintain data integrity within the HRIS; generate and analyze routing HR metrics and reports, including turnover, time to fill, headcount, overtime trends and safety incidents. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and qualifications:
Bachelor's in Human Resources Management or Business Administration required. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual - English/Spanish Experience with the human resources information system (HRIS). Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning.
