HR Generalist

Department Human Resources Location Tampa, Florida Reports To Controller FLSA Status Exempt Position Type Full-Time Job Purpose The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day Human Resources functions for Red White & Bloom Florida Inc. and serves as a resource to employees and managers throughout the employee lifecycle. This position provides support in employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, benefits and leave administration, performance management, training, HR compliance, HRIS administration, and employee records. Because the Company operates within the highly regulated cannabis industry, the HR Generalist also partners with Operations, Compliance, Payroll, and leadership to help maintain compliance with applicable employment laws, Company policies, and cannabis-industry requirements. Essential Functions Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers regarding Company policies, workplace practices, benefits, employee relations matters, and general HR questions. Provide guidance to managers regarding attendance, performance concerns, coaching, corrective action, workplace conduct, and other employee relations matters. Assist with workplace investigations by gathering information, conducting interviews, documenting findings, and supporting appropriate follow-up. Promote consistent and equitable application of Company policies and Human Resources practices. Partner with hiring managers to support recruiting for hourly and salaried positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment requirements. Coordinate onboarding and ensure new hires complete required employment documentation, policies, training, system enrollment, and applicable cannabis-industry requirements. Support Form I-9 completion and maintenance and other employment eligibility documentation. Coordinate applicable background screening, credentialing, identification, and other pre-employment or continued-employment requirements. Support compliance with applicable federal, Florida, and local employment laws and regulations. Partner with Operations and Compliance to help ensure employees satisfy applicable requirements for working within licensed or regulated cannabis operations. Assist with maintaining policies, procedures, employee files, training records, and other documentation required for HR and regulatory compliance. Assist with HR audits and preparation for internal, external, or regulatory reviews. Support benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and employee benefit questions. Assist with administration of applicable FMLA, ADA/accommodation, workers' compensation, and Company leave programs. Support performance management processes, including coaching, documentation, performance improvement plans, and performance reviews. Coordinate and/or assist with employee and manager training, including workplace and compliance training. Maintain accurate employee data within the HRIS and related systems. Process or review employee changes, including new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, and status changes. Partner with Payroll to help ensure employee changes are communicated and processed accurately and timely. Prepare HR reports and assist with workforce metrics, audits, and data analysis. Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and organizational initiatives. Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling employee and Company information. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs. The HR Generalist may provide guidance, training, and support to managers and employees regarding Human Resources processes and Company policies. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Three (3) or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable role. Working knowledge of federal and Florida employment laws and HR best practices. Experience supporting employee relations matters and workplace investigations. Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, performance management, and HRIS systems. Experience in cannabis, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, or another highly regulated and/or multi-location industry is required. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is required. Cannabis Industry & Employment Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to satisfy applicable background screening, identification, credentialing, training, and other requirements associated with employment in Florida's regulated cannabis industry. Must comply with all applicable Company policies, security procedures, safety requirements, and rules governing access to cannabis facilities and operations. Continued employment may be contingent upon maintaining any required eligibility, credentials, approvals, or authorizations applicable to the position. Work Environment This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but may require work within or visits to cultivation, processing, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or other regulated cannabis facilities. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, odors, noise levels, plant material, production equipment, and other conditions associated with cannabis operations. Compliance with applicable safety, sanitation, security, and personal protective equipment requirements is required. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. The employee must be able to perform standard office and administrative duties, including prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and may periodically be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or move throughout Company facilities. Travel Travel between Company locations within Florida may be required based on business needs.
