Overview:
Serves as the Airport's primary day-to-day human resources professional and administers core human resources functions including employee relations, benefits, recruitment, employment-law compliance, personnel policies, compensation administration, leave programs, personnel records, investigations, performance management, and employee separation. The position reports to the Senior Director, who retains primary leadership responsibility for organizational culture, employee engagement, leadership development, workforce development, and organizational training strategy.
Senior Human Resources Generalist Job Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & HR Compliance
  • Administers employee relations and conflict-resolution processes; advises supervisors and employees regarding workplace concerns, performance, attendance, conduct, discipline, and personnel policies.
  • Conducts or coordinates workplace investigations and maintains appropriate documentation; monitors compliance with applicable employment laws, including EEO, ADA, leave, wage-and-hour, and other workplace requirements.
  • Elevates significant employment matters, legal risks, major disciplinary actions, and other sensitive issues to the Senior Director, Executive Director, and/or legal counsel as appropriate. Policies, Handbook & Personnel Administration
  • Maintains and administers the Airport Commission Employee Handbook and personnel policies; researches and drafts recommended revisions and coordinates leadership and legal review.
  • Maintains confidential personnel files, employment records, job descriptions, classifications, organizational records, and required HR documentation in accordance with applicable retention requirements.
  • Processes approved personnel actions, compensation changes, promotions, transfers, and other employment changes and coordinates information with Finance and payroll. Recruitment, Hiring & Employee Separation
  • Administers recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, candidate communications, background checks, employment verifications, pre-employment requirements, offers, and onboarding documentation.
  • Provides HR guidance and documentation support for hiring, disciplinary actions, performance concerns, and employee separations while preserving final employment decision authority with appropriate department and executive leadership. Benefits, Leave & Employee Support
  • Serves as the primary administrator and employee resource for benefit programs, including enrollment, qualifying life events, employee communications, benefit questions, and coordination with benefit providers and payroll personnel.
  • Administers employee leave and workplace-accommodation processes, maintains required confidential documentation, and coordinates return-to-work requirements as applicable. Performance, Compensation & HR Reporting
  • Administers the employee performance-management process; maintains evaluation schedules and assists supervisors with performance documentation and improvement plans.
  • Maintains compensation, classification, and position records and supports compensation benchmarking, market-pay reviews, and organizational workforce planning.
  • Prepares HR reports and workforce metrics, including vacancies, turnover, recruitment activity, employee-relations trends, leave activity, and other HR indicators for leadership review. Culture, Training & Organizational Support
  • Supports the Senior Director in implementing organizational culture, employee-engagement, recognition, retention, leadership-development, and workforce-development initiatives.
  • Coordinates logistics, administration, and recordkeeping for organizational training and professional-development activities and tracks completion of required training.
  • Maintains professional HR knowledge and supports special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.
Senior Human Resources Generalist Skills and Qualifications:
Employee Relations, Conflict Resolution, Benefits Administration, Recruitment and Onboarding, Employment Law, ADA and Leave Administration, Personnel Policy Development, Employee Handbook Administration, Workplace Investigations, Performance Management, Compensation and Classification, HR Compliance, Personnel Records Management, HR Reporting, Confidentiality, Professional Communication, Organization, Judgment, and Customer Service.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, or a closely related field and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional human resources experience involving multiple HR functional areas; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Five or more years of broad HR experience is preferred.
Professional Licenses or Certifications:
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or comparable professional human resources certification preferred, but not required.
Travel Required:
Minimal travel, typically for human resources conferences, professional development, or training. Security /
Employment Requirements:
The selected individual must be able to successfully complete applicable airport security requirements, including a TSA Security Threat Assessment and fingerprint-based background check, as required for airport access.
