Mercer University is seeking a detail-driven and service-oriented HR Data and Records Specialist to join our Human Resources team. The Specialist will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive human resources support and service across all areas of the university and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the department's mission to enhance the employment experience at Mercer University.Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, the HR Data and Records Specialist is responsible for performing duties of a confidential nature which includes records and data management requiring an advanced knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures. This position oversees the workflow of HR-related information system business processes, including onboarding new hires and employee lifecycle changes, reviews system transactions for accuracy and timeliness and performs regular audits to ensure the integrity of the data for payroll and reporting purposes. Provides guidance and training to end users across the university in completing transactions correctly. The Specialist has overall responsibility for the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification process to ensure the university is in compliance with federal regulations. In addition, maintains employee files in a legal manner for access by appropriate personnel and responds to internal and external requests for information, including but not limited to, federal and state government reports and Department of Labor unemployment claims.Qualifications:
A high diploma/GED and 4 years of directly related work experience, which must include data and record management, are required. In lieu of experience, an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience, which must include data and record management, will also be considered. Prior experience managing the I-9 process, working knowledge of federal/state employment laws, and/or experience using Workday is desirable. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual who takes full ownership of their work and consistently delivers high-quality results. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and capable of working independently, while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. Strong technological skills are essential, including the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software. Exceptional time management and organizational skills are required to successfully handle a high-volume workload with accuracy and efficiency. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with the ability to build productive, professional relationships with the HR team and across the university. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, sound judgment, and the utmost discretion in handling sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.Base Salary:
$44,000 ($22.56/hr for 37.5 hours/week) up to commensurate with experienceBackground Check Contingencies:
