Our Material Handling Group is seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist (HRG) to support our multisite Midwest operations across Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana. This role is based out of our Bolingbrook, IL branch and reports to the HR Manager for the Midwest Material Handling Group. As the HRG, you will be involved in all aspects of the operation and serve as a representative for the senior leadership and branch management teams. This role is not a "paper pushing" type of job; it is a highly engaged and strategic role with active involvement in our regional leadership teams. The successful HRG candidate will be a highly energetic, friendly, and outgoing individual who brings solutions to problems and is not afraid to speak the truth or "go against the grain". The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to: Serve as an HR generalist (excluding payroll and benefits). Leverage strong relationship building skills to navigate business opportunities/ideas/concerns from team members, management, and senior leadership. Manage labor relations for 1 Union collective bargaining agreement across 4 Alta locations in Illinois. Handle all employee relations issues including investigations. Coordinate and deliver training sessions on various HR-related topics, including compliance, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion. Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and legal regulations. Expected to travel 15-20% to regional branches on a quarterly schedule and as operational needs arise. Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in HR or related discipline is highly preferred. 2+ years of progressive HR experience is a must. Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and friendly demeanor. Strong leadership skills. Previous labor relations experience is a plus. Must have a passion for HR. Great verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships at all levels of the organization. Confident public speaker with the ability to present effectively to large employee groups and management teams. Understand HR policies and programs, benefit plans, communicates and reinforces organization values. Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record and automobile insurance.
Computer programs:
Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Dayforce.
Language skills:
High:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical skills:
Intermediate - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning ability:
High - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
