Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our team on a part-time basis, working approximately 20 hours per week. This role is vital in supporting our HR functions, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Responsibilities Recruitment & Sourcing Skilled Trades & Retail Sourcing:
Support the organization by establishing a proactive recruiting and interviewing program. Write compelling ads, screen applicants, and counsel managers on candidate selection.
Benefits Administration & Support Program Management:
Manage all employee benefit programs (Medical, Dental, and Vision portals), including processing enrollment, status updates, open enrollment, and benefit terminations/COBRA protocol. 401(k) &
Benefit Education:
Actively inform, guide, and educate staff on eligible programs; coordinate educational resources to drive plan engagement.
AFLAC & Tracking Deductions:
Manage employee AFLAC programs (for the Fuel division only) and accurately report medical/dental/vision deductions to the finance team.
Accrual Upkeep:
Maintain and report accurate vacation, sick, and Massachusetts paid time off accruals.
Portal Tech Assistance:
Assist employees with navigating and troubleshooting their personal online payroll/HR portals.
Employee Relations & Training Conflict Resolution:
Hear and resolve employee grievances while providing constructive counseling to both employees and supervisors.
Disciplinary & Exit Actions:
Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, formal investigations, and structured terminations. Conduct and analyze exit interviews.
Onboarding:
Organize and manage comprehensive new employee orientations to seamlessly integrate new hires into company culture.
Safety Integration:
Organize and manage health and safety training programs tailored to both field service and retail environments. Process and file Workers' Compensation claims efficiently.
Compliance Management Legal Compliance:
Ensure all HR practices align strictly with Federal and Massachusetts state employment requirements.
Physical Compliance:
Maintain up-to-date labor posters, employee communication boards, and safety bulletin boards.
Policy Ownership:
Enforce management guidelines and maintain the Employee Handbook by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
Record Keeping:
Maintain pristine, highly confidential electronic employee files and administrative paperwork.
Hiring Frameworks:
Update job requirements and descriptions for all positions across the service and retail divisions.
Pre-Employment Screening:
Administer pre-employment tests, contact applicant references, and coordinate mandatory company background checks or drug screens. Experience Proven experience in human resources management or an HR department role, ideally with familiarity in employment law, workers' compensation, and regulatory compliance management. A minimum of 3 years of human resource management experience preferred. Experience operating within HVAC, plumbing, construction, retail, or seasonal logistics companies is highly valued. Demonstrated ability in talent acquisition, employee relations, and performance management processes. Strong project management skills with experience supporting training & development programs and workforce management strategies. Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information professionally and effectively collaborate across teams. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality. Prior experience working part-time or in flexible roles within an HR environment is preferred but not required .
Location:
