Job Description

A-C Motor Express is a Northeast USA regional trucking company doing business for almost 100 years. We are seeking a driven professional to join our team as the HR & Safety Generalist. This is an on-site, full time, in West Springfield, MA. Pay rate is $30.00-$35.00 per hour. Our company operates 24 hours per day during the work week and your actual working times may fluctuate based on required employee interactions interactions.
HUMAN RESOURCES RELATED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee/labor relations Recruiting, onboarding and training coordination Payroll processing and administration Maintain employee records and conducting performance reviews Compensation and benefits analysis Counseling and follow up Separations and COBRA Employee assistance program Attendance tracking and time off coordination Working knowledge of labor laws i.e.:
FMLA, MA PFML, COBRA, ADA
etc. Workers Compensation administration Maintain and manage updates to company policies and employee handbook Evaluate, select and oversee vendors providing supplemental HR services
SAFETY RELATED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain OSHA compliance DOT compliance Conduct periodic safety meetings with relevant parties Review and address work related accidents and injuries Plan and coordinate safety program/incentives
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Working knowledge of HR principles and functions Works well in groups and individually Organized, accurate, detail oriented and proactive Can identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Can develop ideas and execute plans in an efficient manner Able to manage difficult employee situations in a confidential manner Strong English language written and verbal communication skills Understands implications of decisions to the business and employees Ability to understand and perform relevant mathematical calculations Computer skills appropriate for office tasks (Microsoft Office, email, file management, service provider websites, etc. Ability to present information and respond to questions as needed Physical ability consistent with a busy office environment with moderate noise levels. Close vision and focus necessary for computer and paperwork. May occasionally need to lift/move office items up to 10 lbs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Management, or minimum three years equivalent industry experience Two years DOT experience preferred PHR or SPHR certification preferred UKG Workforce Ready experience preferred
