Job Description

Description:
The Jewish Healthcare Center, a long-term care facility, is seeking a dedicated and well-rounded HR Generalist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate brings a comprehensive understanding of human resources functions, with deep expertise in Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) and leave of absence (LOA) administration, along with working knowledge of workers' compensation, payroll and HRIS systems (Paylocity preferred), and 401(k) administration.
Responsibilities:
Play a lead role in PFML and other leave of absence case management, from intake through return-to-work, ensuring accuracy and compliance Serve as a knowledgeable backup resource across workers' compensation, payroll, and 401(k) administration — able to step in as needed Support workers' compensation claims processes and ensure compliance with MA regulations Maintain familiarity with Paylocity to provide payroll backup support and troubleshoot as needed Assist with employee relations matters, including overflow support and backup coverage for difficult conversations (coaching, disciplinary action, performance concerns) Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data integrity Support broader HR initiatives including onboarding, benefits administration, and policy compliance

Requirements:
Proven experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role Deep, hands-on knowledge of MA PFML and leave of absence administration, including intake, documentation, and compliance tracking Working knowledge of workers' compensation processes and regulations Familiarity with payroll systems and processes, sufficient to serve as a backup Proficiency in HRIS systems (Paylocity preferred) Knowledge of 401(k) administration Comfortable navigating difficult or sensitive conversations with employees, with sound judgment and professionalism Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Comfortable cross-training across HR functions and adapting to shifting priorities Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
