Human Resources Generalist Birmingham, MI | On-Site | Full-Time, Exempt Simon Group Holdings is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing corporate People team in Birmingham. In this role, you'll be a trusted partner to employees and leaders across our multi-entity organization — with a hand in everything from onboarding new hires to benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. It's a role with real variety and real impact, reporting to the Human Resources Manager and working closely with Talent Acquisition and cross-functional partners across the business. Responsibilities:
Own the new hire process, including onboarding, orientation, new hire paperwork, and I-9 documentation. Administer benefits enrollments and election changes, ensuring accuracy in vendor systems and compliance with plan requirements. Maintain personnel files in accordance with federal and state recordkeeping requirements. Support the rollout of HR policies and process improvements. Partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring strategy and get hands-on experience in candidate interviews. Coordinate with benefits administrators on deductions for benefits, leaves, garnishments, and retirement plans. Conduct routine audits of HR data and catch issues before they become problems. Process employment verification requests within required timeframes. Bring a strong sense of urgency to time-sensitive HR requests and deadlines. Collaborate with the HR Manager, Talent Acquisition, and other partners to keep projects moving. Apply sharp problem-solving skills to resolve employee relations inquiries and HR data discrepancies. Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field. 2-4 years of hands-on HR experience. A natural sense of urgency and strong organizational skills. A collaborative mindset — you build trust easily with employees, leaders, and cross-functional partners. Sharp problem-solving instincts and attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel and MS Office. HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) preferred but not required.
