HR Generalist Location:
Kalamazoo, MI Compensation:
$60,000–$72,000 annually
Schedule:
Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Onsite About the Company Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting education and community development throughout Southwest Michigan. They offer a collaborative, people-first culture where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas, build relationships, and make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities Coordinate all aspects of employee onboarding, ensuring new hires complete required documentation, compliance training, and orientation activities. Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and supervisors, answering questions related to policies, procedures, benefits, and employment practices. Interpret and apply organizational policies, employment agreements, and labor-related guidelines while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Partner with leadership to address employee relations matters, conduct workplace investigations, and provide guidance on performance management and conflict resolution. Oversee recruitment activities including posting positions, coordinating interviews, extending offers, and supporting hiring managers throughout the process. Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation while ensuring confidentiality and compliance. Assist with policy development, handbook updates, and continuous improvement of HR processes. Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, wellness activities, and other culture-building efforts. Generate HR reports and assist with compliance audits and reporting requirements. Participate in special HR projects and initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 3–5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience. Experience supporting onboarding, employee relations, and policy administration. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience in nonprofit, education, government, or other mission-driven organizations is a plus.
