Job Description

About the Role Structural Concepts is hiring an HR Generalist to support our manufacturing plant in Norton Shores, MI. In this role, you'll help build a high-performing, talent-dense workforce by partnering with plant leadership on employee relations, recruiting, compliance, and performance management. This is a hands-on, floor-facing HR role for someone who enjoys variety, moves easily between strategic partnership and day-to-day execution, and wants real ownership on a small, cross-trained HR team. What You'll Do Employee Relations Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations questions and concerns at the plant, providing guidance consistent with company policy and applicable employment law. Support routine workplace investigations (policy violations, conduct concerns), escalating complex or high-risk cases to the Director of Human Resources. Document employee relations matters accurately and maintain confidentiality of personnel and investigation records. Partner with supervisors on progressive discipline delivery and documentation. Support employee engagement initiatives, including events, recognition programs, and HR-led communications. Recruiting Coordination Own day-to-day recruiting coordination for assigned requisitions: posting positions, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and managing candidate communication. Partner with hiring managers, who lead candidate interviews and selection decisions, to keep the hiring process smooth and on schedule. Coordinate pre-employment steps (background checks, drug screens, offer letters, onboarding paperwork) alongside Payroll/HRIS and the HR Assistant. Maintain requisition and candidate tracking in Smartsheet, and provide regular hiring updates to the Director of Human Resources and hiring managers. Support employer branding and outreach (job fairs, community partnerships, local schools and technical programs) to build a sustainable hourly and salaried talent pipeline. Compliance Administration Administer leave, workers' compensation, and compliance tracking, escalating complex leave determinations to the Director of Human Resources. Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in accordance with company policy and applicable recordkeeping requirements. Support the development and rollout of HR policies, procedures, and employee communications. Workforce Planning & Performance Management Support hourly workforce planning and development in close collaboration with the operations team. Support administration of the Performance & Growth Review process, including tracking completion, answering leader questions, and flagging inconsistent application to the Director of Human Resources. Take on other duties as assigned in support of a small, cross-trained HR team. What You'll Bring Associate's degree in HR or a related field required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related experience preferred. 4+ years of experience in a related HR or business role. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy. Fluent in Microsoft Office. Work Environment This role is primarily office-based with regular time on the manufacturing floor. You'll need to move throughout plant areas, including around production equipment, for investigation and engagement purposes. Reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. How to Apply If you're ready to bring your HR expertise to a hands-on role with real ownership, we'd love to hear from you.
