Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Pace Inc, a leading distributor of outdoor power equipment located in Plymouth, Michigan, is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Generalist to support the company's human resources functions. The HR Generalist will work closely with leadership and staff across departments to implement HR strategies that support business goals, enhance employee engagement, and maintain compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Support the day-to-day operations of the HR department including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, and performance management. Administer employee benefit programs and serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, time off, and policies. Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal labor laws. Assist the Controller with payroll processing functions including timesheet reviews, payroll data entry, and payroll reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance. Coordinate and support internal investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution with a focus on fairness and documentation. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, HRIS data, and compliance reporting. Conduct new employee orientations and facilitate training sessions as needed. Provide support to managers and employees on HR-related matters including performance improvement, development plans, and organizational changes. Participate in audits, health and safety programs, and compliance reviews as needed.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Competencies and Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization. Knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and employment regulations. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.).
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Previous job experience as a Generalist or similar HR role. Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus. Experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience as a benefit administrator to include health and retirement plans. Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules or OSHA regulations and safety management. Experience managing payroll and time/attendance in ADP or another HRIS platform.
Other Requirements:
This is a full-time, on-site position. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for company events, trainings, or employee support. Occasional travel to other locations of operations as needed. (
