Role Purpose The Human Resources Superintendent plays a key leadership role at Tamarack, partnering closely with site leaders and employees to build a strong, respectful, and high-performing workplace. This position is a site-based role, with regular presence and serves as the go-to HR leader for day-to-day people matters. This role is hands-on, visible, and engaged while supporting leaders, listening to employees, and ensuring our people practices are aligned with our values. You'll balance operational HR support with thoughtful leadership, helping shape the employee experience while keeping us compliant and moving forward. Key Responsibilities Leadership Provide direction, guidance, and support to Supervisors and other direct reports for effective daily execution. Promote teamwork, communication, and alignment across shifts and crews. Coach Supervisors in leadership, planning, and performance management. Recognize and reinforce desired behaviors and cultural standards. Encourage innovation, ownership, and employee participation in problem-solving. Ensure effective two-way communication between front-line teams and site leadership. Demonstrate visible safety leadership in the field. Performs other duties as assigned. HR Leadership & Employee Relations Serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership on employee relations, leadership effectiveness, and workforce planning. Lead and manage employee relations matters with fairness, consistency, and professionalism, ensuring concerns are addressed promptly, respectfully and legally. Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment where employees feel heard, supported, and accountable. Model and reinforce company values in every interaction and decision. Recruiting & Performance Management Oversee end-to-end recruiting for site roles, partnering with leaders to attract and hire the right talent for today and the future. Support onboarding and integration of new employees to ensure a strong start and connection to the site culture. Embed and guide leaders through performance management processes, including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and corrective action when needed. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Conduct payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Administration of employee benefits and act as a resource for employees and leaders on benefits-related questions. Partner with corporate or shared services teams as needed to ensure seamless execution of HR programs. Compliance Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies. Support audits, investigations, and reporting requirements related to HR and labor compliance. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality and integrity of HR data Required Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility in an operational or industrial environment. Prior experience in mining, manufacturing, construction, energy, or another heavy industrial setting is strongly preferred. Proven experience leading employee relations in a complex, site-based workforce, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management. Hands-on experience conducting and overseeing recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance. Strong working knowledge of employment and labor laws, HR best practices, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated ability to partner with front-line leaders and senior site leadership, providing practical, values-based guidance. Experience supporting a safety-first culture, with an understanding of how leadership behaviors influence safe work practices. Ability to be highly visible and present in the operation, building trust and credibility across the sites. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is preferred, but not required.
