Director of Human Resources Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting the mission of Evangel University. Each Generalist is responsible for a primary functional area while providing backup support across other HR functions as needed. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and service-oriented HR operations while fostering a Christ-centered workplace culture. The position requires a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to serving employees with excellence. Each Generalist is a point person for one key responsibility, and serves as backup for an additional key responsibility. Key Responsibilities Benefit Administration Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness initiatives Coordinate annual open enrollment, including system configuration, employee communication, and education efforts Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing timely and compassionate support Maintain accurate benefits records and process enrollments, changes, and terminations in a timely manner Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure billing accuracy Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and leave of absence requirements Collaborate with vendors and brokers to evaluate and enhance benefit offerings Payroll Administration Serve as payroll administrator, processing payroll accurately and on schedule as needed Maintain payroll data integrity within the HRIS system Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting processes Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, managing the relationships with the state governments Process manual checks as necessary Audit new hire data and employee changes prior to payroll submission Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation Onboarding and Compliance Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, orientation, status changes, and offboarding Process student employment from contract through hire and train supervisors and students on timekeeping and employment practices Maintain compliance through accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and audit support Conduct audits of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls to ensure accuracy Develop working knowledge of HR policies and procedures to effectively respond to employee inquiries Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives Assist with employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and mediation Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred Demonstrate at least one year of HR experience with emphasis in benefits and/or payroll administration Utilize ADP Workforce Now, Ellucian Colleague, or similar HRIS systems (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills Communicate effectively with strong interpersonal and service-oriented skills Handle confidential information with discretion and integrity Utilize Microsoft Office Suite proficiently Evangel University is an equal opportunity employer participating in the E-Verify program.
