Job Description
At Truman Orthodontics, we believe that an exceptional patient experience starts with an exceptional team. We are looking for an experienced, people-focused HR Manager to join our leadership team and help us build, support, and develop an incredible team across all of our locations. The HR Manager will oversee the practice's human resources functions and play a key role in creating a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, challenged, and accountable. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, solving problems, developing leaders, and creating systems that help both employees and the organization succeed. This position works closely with the Director of Operations and department leaders to recruit and retain exceptional team members, strengthen our culture, support employee development, manage employee relations, and ensure HR processes and policies are handled consistently and professionally. What You'll Do Recruitment & Hiring Lead the recruitment process from job posting through hiring and onboarding. Review resumes, conduct initial phone/video interviews, and coordinate interviews with leadership. Maintain an organized candidate pipeline and provide an exceptional candidate experience. Prepare offer letters and required employment documentation. Employee Relations & Performance Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders regarding workplace questions and concerns. Help managers navigate employee relations, performance concerns, conflict resolution, and corrective action. Support performance reviews, coaching, performance improvement plans, and employee development. Promote accountability while maintaining a positive and respectful workplace. Onboarding & Training Create a welcoming and organized onboarding experience for every new employee. Coordinate new-hire orientation, required documentation, training, and system access. Manage 30/60/90-day, six-month, and annual employee check-ins. Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and keep training materials current. Support leadership development and manager training. HR Policies & Compliance Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies. Ensure policies are communicated and implemented consistently across all locations. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records. Support compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. Partner with outside HR, legal, benefits, and compliance professionals when needed. Payroll, Timekeeping & Benefits Review employee timekeeping and attendance records. Review and approve timecards prior to payroll processing. Assist employees with questions regarding payroll, PTO, and benefits. Coordinate benefit enrollment and changes. Maintain accurate employee and benefits records. Culture & Employee Engagement Help create and maintain a workplace culture built on teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and respect. Develop employee recognition and engagement initiatives. Coordinate celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, milestones, and team accomplishments. Gather employee feedback and identify opportunities to improve employee engagement and retention. Partner with leadership to continuously improve the employee experience. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is organized, approachable, confident, compassionate, and willing to have difficult conversations when necessary. You should be someone employees trust and leaders can rely on.
The ideal candidate will have:
3+ years of progressive HR, employee relations, or HR leadership experience preferred. Experience working in a multi-location or healthcare environment is a plus. Strong knowledge of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and HR best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to coach, mentor, and hold employees and leaders accountable. Strong judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities and support teams across multiple locations. Familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA, and healthcare compliance is a plus. A genuine interest in helping people grow and creating a great place to work.
