We are EPIC Long Island, a premier non-profit organization serving individuals with physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges across Long Island. We are seeking a Jr. HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team at our East Meadow main office. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of HR, the Human Resources Jr. Generalist supports daily HR operations, including benefits administration, onboarding, employee records, compliance, training, and HRsystems. This role ensures accuracy of HR data, maintains confidentiality, and provides support to employees, managers, and external agencies.
Responsibilities include:
Assist Assistant Director of Human Resources with benefits, payroll change notices, and leave administration. Creation of both Electronic personnel files and paper files Process new hire verification of employment forms as per procedures, follow up and maintain tracking spreadsheet Respond to requests for verification of employment forms Maintain, audit, and ensure compliance of employee records (physical and digital) in accordance with federal, state, local regulations, and agency policy. Manage and update HR systems and databases, including ADP, Badge system, CBC, LENS, Relias, and DMV infractions. Handle requests from agencies and external entities, including unemployment claims, income/employment verifications, and regulatory inquiries. Respond to inquiries from employees, managers, applicants, and external partners, providing accurate HR information and support. Act as a back up and support to the HR Onboarding process Support the HR Director responsible for trainings with reports, notifications, and data entry Support recruitment activities, including coordinating interviews and participating in hiring events & job fairs. Exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling sensitive employee matters, ensuring confidentiality and data security. Maintain compliance, quality standards, and up-to-date HR knowledge through ongoing learning and professional development. Collaborate across HR functions and contribute to team projects and organizational goals. Recognize, prevent, and report Abuse. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or College Degree Human resources experience or experience in direct care is strongly preferred. Valid NYS driver's license preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent phone skills & proficiency in computer skills. Strong organizational and communication skills. Friendly and welcoming personality. This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is based in our East Meadow main office and follows a Monday-Friday schedule.
