Bookkeeper and HR Specialist Job Description Job Overview We seek a detail-oriented Bookkeeper and HR Specialist to manage financial accounting and payroll for two affiliated businesses. This dual-role position offers an exciting opportunity to manage essential financial processes while supporting human resources functions. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and fostering a positive workplace environment. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks with Quickbooks. Perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Process payroll accurately and on time, including managing time tracking, calculating wages, deductions, and benefits using payroll processing tools. Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections. Prepare financial reports, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and organizational standards. Maintain compliance with accounting standards and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions. Support HR functions by assisting with employee onboarding, maintaining personnel records, and coordinating benefits administration. Assist with budgeting processes and provide insights through detailed account analysis to support organizational planning. Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles with familiarity in public accounting or non-profit accounting environments. Strong proficiency with Quickbooks. Solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation. Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger accounting. Knowledge of GAAP standards and accounting regulations relevant to corporate or non-profit organizations. Strong proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Gmail, and Drive) Proven understanding of New York State employment law with regard to human resource and workplace requirements. Excellent skills in Excel and Google Sheets. Expertise in data analysis and report writing (in Excel, Sheets, and other reporting tools). Some office management and administrative tasks will be part of the role also. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
