Job Description
Marco Board House, a growing woman-owned contract manufacturing company, is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to fill a critical need in our Poughkeepsie location. Duties Support Recruiting efforts by posting positions, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, presenting employment offers, etc Onboard new hires including completing new hire paperwork, entering employment data into Paychex, presenting Orientation PowerPoint, etc, Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data while ensuring strict confidentiality. Support payroll administration utilizing Paychex, including payroll processing, employee data updates, entering missed punches, and payroll-related changes. Serve as an HR partner providing guidance and recommendations to employees on employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management, and workplace issues. Coordinate employee offboarding processes, including exit documentation, system access, and final HR procedures. Process employee status changes, compensation adjustments, promotions, transfers, and benefit updates. Provide guidance on benefit plan provisions and eligibility, resolve benefit issues, and support annual open enrollment activities. May conduct employee relations investigations, evaluate findings, document outcomes, and recommend appropriate resolutions consistent with company policy and applicable employment laws. Interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure compliance. Maintain HR reports, organizational data, personnel documentation, and workforce records. Ensure employee training records are maintained and up to date. Support employee relations initiatives including orchestrating offsite events, and managing monthly birthday celebration, and other employee relations purchases. Participate in HR projects and organizational initiatives that support business objectives. Complete requests for employee information for workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, leaves of absence, and employment verification requests. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Escalate complex employee relations issues to the Human Resources Manager/Director. Skills/Requirements 3+ years Human Resources experience in a hands-on HR Generalist/Specialist, or HR Operations role required Associate's Degree in Business Administration/Human Resources preferred Knowledge of human resources management principles including talent management, performance management, employee benefits, and employee relations. Payroll experience strongly preferred, Paychex a plus Strong communication and organizational skills Experience handling confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion Proficient in Microsoft Office Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00
