A Human Resources Generalist provides overall operational support in a human resources department, including supporting employee relations, onboarding, benefits and leave management of a company or organization.

I. BASIC FUNCTION
Develops Human Resources policies and programs for the entire company. The major areas covered are organizational planning, organizational development, employment, indoctrination and training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee services. Originates Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide a balanced program throughout all divisions. Assists and advises management on Human Resource issues.
II.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Attract and retain qualified employees. B. Ensure compliance with governmental regulatory requirements including but not limited to those related to unemployment, OSHA, FMLA, workers' compensation insurance, payroll tax remittance, IRS, Census Bureau, etc. C. Facilitate appropriate staffing levels, compensation, performance review, hiring and firing. D. Provide reception and building security functions. E. Formulate and recommend Human Resources policies and objectives. F. Determines and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale. G. Act as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies. H. Facilitate disciplinary actions and terminations recordkeeping and activities. I. Directs wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services, and company safety and health programs. Monitors for effectiveness. J. Directs a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs and practices to keep management informed of new developments. K. Keeps supervisor informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of objectives and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
