ASAP KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct fair, thorough, and timely investigations into employee concerns, workplace complaints, policy violations, corrective actions, and terminations. Gather and assess relevant facts by interviewing employees and witnesses, reviewing documentation, comparing similar cases, and evaluating applicable policies and laws. Use active listening and effective follow-up questions to identify underlying concerns, risks, and potential policy violations. Document investigation findings and provide objective, well-supported recommendations to management and brand leadership. Manage assigned cases using the organization's employee-relations case-management system, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution. Advise managers regarding performance concerns, corrective actions, employee conduct, policy interpretation, and termination documentation. Provide written and verbal guidance that helps managers communicate expectations clearly and encourages employee improvement. Ensure company policies and practices are applied consistently and fairly. Interpret and apply applicable federal and state employment laws and relevant requirements in Canada and Puerto Rico. Guide managers regarding accommodations, employee concerns, leave-related matters, and other workplace issues. Identify, prioritize, resolve, or escalate employee-relations matters within established timelines. Partner with HR Business Partners and the Employee Relations Center of Excellence on complex or higher-risk matters. Collaborate with Asset Protection regarding store compliance, investigations, corrective actions, and terminations. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional HR experience. Five years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, or a closely related field. At least three years of related Human Resources experience or a demonstrated record of relevant business-management experience. Hands-on experience conducting neutral workplace investigations. Experience using an employee-relations case-management system. Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws. Experience advising managers on performance management, corrective actions, policy interpretation, and terminations. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to handle difficult, sensitive, volatile, and emotionally charged situations effectively and objectively. Demonstrated sound judgment, neutrality, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Strong case-management, organizational, documentation, and prioritization skills. Ability to complete required OIG/GSA exclusion checks and background screening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting large hourly employee populations in retail or manufacturing environments. Experience handling workplace accommodations and related employee-relations matters. Experience supporting union locations and interpreting applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. PHR or SPHR certification. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or French. Experience supporting employees or operations across multiple states, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
